"the price of tea in china"
Ok. I need to confess something. For the last month or so, I have been infatuated with Elton John. He has me mesmerized for some reason. Then to my delight I find out he is one of the biggest contemporary photography collectors in the world today. With very good taste might I add... (crewdson, weston, sherman).
Watching the above compilation of videos, I can relate to his costumes and "characters". As far back as I can remember I've been fascinated with role playing. I remember walking over to pick up a pizza at the local pizza joint in a gritty downtown neighborhood in Pittsburgh, PA when I was 11 years old wearing my mother's full length faux skunk jacket and a leather skull cap. Just one of many examples that I could point out from my youth and even today where I've dressed to impress by disguising myself and/or dressing out of character.

note: Today's picture comes courtesy of Susan & Darby's wedding. This was taken on the way home from the wedding. I must admit that my wife had to drive, cuz I was quite inebriated, but I sobered up enough with the help of a McDonalds southern style chicken meal and Sir Elton John.

First...if it's still available, Jill and I would like to purchase "a long cold night"...just got the okay from Jill. Let me know if you want me to drop off the cash or whatever...just buzz me or shoot me an email...sweet deal on some incredible photography...thanks man!
Also, not sure if you're into author Rick Moody at all (Ice Storm, Garden State, etc.), but he cites music as a major influence in his writing/art as well...this is what he had to say about Elton John: "...my first worshipful relationship to a rock & roll record as a kid was to Elton John's Goodbye Yellow Brick Road."
Cool to read and gain some insight into your c-scapes in relation to what you are listening to at the time. Great new c-scape...
James
well if this picture says anything, it says
" here I go again on my own
Goin down the only road Ive ever known,
Like a drifter I was born to walk alone "
youve been listening to the wrongqueens my dude
Just between you, me and the fence post, I'm a total sucker for piano rock... don't know why... Ben Folds, Billy Joel and Elton. Now, that's totally a guilty pleasure thing cause I'd never admit that publicly or out loud or anything.... being a rockabilly, roots rock, bluegrass guy...
.... errrrrrr.
Tell me again why I visit your blog? Oh yeah, the photography.
Hope you're enjoying your 8 weeks of summer. Snow and ice soon, son. Soon.
There are songs that I would turn up and start singing along with only while driving @ 60mph + with the windows rolled up. If I found myself at an intersection with people around and my windows were down, that same song would be muted in less than a nano-second.
I have lot's of those songs.
Exactly! And I'd give it an awkward cough, too, as I was turning down the radio -- in case anyone happened to hear!
**cough cough**
ben folds , really?
i knew when i saw elton, that this was going nowhere good
