Inspiration in weird places...

"a valley lake" (click to widen) part of the dark series

Revisiting Nuri Bilge Ceylan (see previous post) got me pumped to shoot again today and to show you how twisted my mind works, this mashup on youtube inspired me too! haha!

Aaron...I took the picture at the link above on Thanksgiving morning about 2 years ago, I think it was, from that pass...was trying to capture the headlights reflecting in the water from passing cars in the distance...froze my ass off!

Great c-scape man...the misty ADK mountains in all their glory set the atmosphere up so well, and now I'm dying to go camp somewhere and build a fire. If I'm not mistaken, you "could be" watching a set of distant headlights rounding that bend in the road...creating some nice tension in this narrative I think...of what might be approaching.

Off to see Will Smith in action...

Nice pic james. And you nailed it! leave it to a local to see what you can't see in a tiny 1200 pixel internet image.

There is indeed a car rounding that bend, highlights on. Nice catch!

oh, and building that fire was a bitch! It was 42 degrees, 30mph winds and raining.

I basically had 30 seconds of newspaper fire under the sticks of wood to "bag" the shot.

...the "art" of building a fire...about the time I want to show off my survival skills, the 'dacks kick up some wind and/or rain and put me right back in my place. And the way the wind tears through that pass...you earned that shot...

...check out a sweet "campfire" series at http://gregstimac.com/...also check out Stimac's "Recoil" project while you're there...he isn't exactly "shooting himself", but avoiding getting shot, literally, by others for the sake of his art...let's just say Stimac has a bigger set than I do...I like his style...

James... that 'recoil' series is nuckin' futs!

I have to wonder if he wasn't remote triggering? I mean that's just crazy, especially considering some of the folk it looks like he is trusting in a few of those.

Nice find, thanks for the link.
