they're hard to find, but they're out there. Reciprocity Failure recently found and posted about a new one (new to me). Google all you want, but photographers like myself, Jens Olof Lasthein, and Nuri Bilge Ceylan just don't come up in searches for panoramic photography or variations of that search term. It's just impossible to battle through all of the decorative art clutter of nature/landscape panoramics that dominate the genre.
Looking at the work of Jens Olof Lasthein again this morning, I can't help but see similarities to images from David Hilliard. The colors, the subjects, the light are all very familiar to his work. David just shoots in panels instead of panoramic. I found almost 8-10 images that could match quite well, here are two of those...
